The Islamic holy month of Ramadan has arrived once again, and for a truly hearty ‘Iftar’ (berbuka puasa) experience, head to Coffee House and join us for this once-a-year tradition of breaking of fast with loved ones and friends. Be spoilt for choice with the bountiful selection of local and international favourites. Don’t miss our chefs in action and choose your favourite dishes from the endless selection at the action stalls where local delights are prepared a-la-minute.

Take your pick from over 100 sumptuous dishes ranging from appetizers, ulam-ulam & salads, soups, main courses, items from action counters and stalls and not forgetting yummy desserts.

After a long day of fasting, the perfect way to berbuka is with a refreshing glass of Watermelon with Lychee, Honey Dates Juice, Air Bandung, Sugar Cane and Air Sirap Selasih or a hot glass of Teh Tarik or Nescafe Tarik, accompanied with some dates or perhaps a slice of ‘kuih’.

Then, continue your gastronomic journey with a wide array of  traditional appetizers consisting of Rojak Buah-Buahan, Tauhu Bakar Sumbat with Thai Sauce, Gado-Gado with Peanut Sauce, Pasembur with Peanut Sauce, Kerabu Mangga Muda, Kerabu Nangka Muda, Assorted Seafood on Ice and Nasi Himpit Kuah Kacang.

Relish bowls of heartwarming and tasty soups such as Coffee House’s signature Sup Gearbox, a popular bone marrow broth laced with various local spices, Tom Yum, Fish Ball Soup with Glass Noodles and the ubiquitous yet tasty Soto Ayam. Craving for something less spicy? There are Boston Prawn Bisque, Aloe Vera with Seafood Soup, Roasted Cream of Pumpkin and Minestrone Casalinga Soup.

Next, head over to the main course section for a mĂ©lange of authentic Malay dishes such as Daging Rendang Tok, Rendang Minang, Ayam Percik, Ikan Cencaru Goreng Berlada, Udang Galah Berempah, Kacang Botol Goreng Sambal, Daging Salai Lemak Cili Padi, Paru Goreng Tempe and Gulai Daging Kawah Batang Pisang complemented by medley of ulam-ulam and served with sambal belacan, budu, cincalok and tempoyak, much like ‘berbuka puasa’ fare at home.

The extensive spread will not be complete without trying our signature dishes over at the action stalls,  such as the signature Nasi Beriyani Gam Ayam accompanied by a medley of condiments, Roasted Whole Lamb Kuzi served with Black Pepper or Mint Sauce, Laksa Johor and Nasi Ulam. Diners can also savour dishes prepared on the spot such as Grilled Assorted Fish and Stingray served with Air Asam, Beef & Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce and condiments, Murtabak, Fried Kuey Teow, Chicken and Beef Shawarma as well as Grilled Otak-Otak, to name a few.

Be bowled over at the noodles station with an assortment of noodles specialties, such as Mee Rebus, Mee Kari, Laksa Kedah, Assam Laksa, Kuey Teow Sup, Laksa Lemak and more. These will be rotated on daily basis for diners’ enjoyment.

“We decided to bring back traditional favourites as most of the items above are popular fare that our guests enjoy during their berbuka puasa with us. For the specialties, I would recommend the Nasi Kandar and Nasi Beriyani Gam with all its accompanying condiments. The Lamb Kuzi is another popular must-try. Sometimes on a busy day, two whole lambs are used”, explains Chef Samsuddin Ahmad, Sunway Putra Hotel’s Executive Sous Chef when asked on the theme for this year’s Ramadhan Promotion.

“A total of seven different menus will be rotated throughout the fasting month, offering variety and to suit all palates. Of course, the emphasis will be on action stalls and Coffee House’s signature offerings. Indeed, with such a wide selection, it is no wonder that some of our regular diners drop by for berbuka puasa with either their family or friends every week”, added Chef Samsuddin.

End the meal with one of these fabulous desserts; not-to-be-missed Ice Kacang, Sago Gula Melaka, Pulut with Santan Durian, Tapai, Assorted Jellies, Cakes and Pastries, Ice Creams, Chocolate Fountain, Bread & Dates Butter Pudding with Vanilla Sauce, Tau Foo Fa, Pandan Pancakes and Aneka Kuih-Muih Melayu. A selection of mouthwatering buburs will also be available, such as Bubur Jagung with Sago, Bubur Pengat Labu, Bubur Cha-Cha with Yam, Bubur Pulut Hitam and Bubur Gandum.

SAHUR
For the convenience of guests, Coffee House also offers Sahur daily from 4.00 am to Imsak at RM45.00++ per person. The menus will be rotated daily and will feature lighter and healthier foods to sustain oneself for the fast ahead.

For the convenience of Muslim guests, the hotel also provides Surau for prayers.

BANANA SMOOTHIE - Cake of the Month


Banana is a nutritious fruit high in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates. For the month of July, Lobby Lounge introduces an awesomely rich and flavourful creation filled with the goodness of banana – Banana Smoothie Cake. The creamy creation consists of white chocolate mousse laced with caramelized mashed bananas and sandwiched between two layers of rich moist chocolate cake. The cake is then coated with a layer of thick glossy caramel glaze and decorated with fresh banana slices, tangy raspberries and tantalizing pieces of fine chocolates…. Fabulously delicious for those with a sweet tooth! This incredibly luscious banana treat goes perfectly well with a hot cup of English Breakfast Tea or Americano.

Available throughout July 2012, Banana Smoothie Cake is priced at RM9.00++ per slice or RM70.00++ per whole cake.

PERCIK WITH PANACHE


For a taste that is truly local, drop by Monkey B@r this July for a taste of Percik, where pieces of meat are marinated in various spices and coconut milk and barbecued over charcoal fire. This popular dish is available on a la carte basis and is priced from RM21.00++ per selection.



The Percik (sprinkle or splash) sauce originates from the East Coast of Malaysia at the beautiful state of Kelantan, to be precise. The colour, aroma and the unique taste of this sauce enhances the traditional flavour in a dish. The mixture of herbs & spices blended with rich coconut milk and tamarind juice is used to concoct this flavourful marinade dish. The percik sauce is used for basting the meat while grilling or barbecuing over fire and it also serves as an accompaniment to a dish. This month, Monkey B@r introduces four different variations to this delicious grilled Percik dishes.

Diners can choose to try the traditional Spring Chicken Percik. The chicken is thoroughly marinated overnight and grilled over a slow fire with the occasional splashing of percik sauce which imparts a deliciously distinct flavour.

There is also the tender Beef Percik or succulent Lamb Percik. Both are cooked to perfection. As for ardent seafood fan, Fish Percik is an excellent choice. The spicy seabass fillet is served with a side of spicy mango salad, also known as Kerabu Mangga. All the dishes are served with boiled potatoes seasoned with turmeric and coriander as well as additional percik gravy for good measure.

Located at Level 10, Monkey B@r is the happening fun pub in town, offering great live entertainment in a vibrant setting. This July, the spotlight shines on Gen@10 Japanese Restaurant’s range of signature dishes. Using premium ingredients, guests will be able to enjoy some of the well-known offerings for both lunch and dinner. For starters, do try the innovative Foie Gras To Watari Kani (Pan-fried Duck Liver and Soft Shell Crab with Shiso Apple Salad) or the fragrant Wakatori No Karaage (Marinate Fried Spring Chicken with Garden Salad).

The highlight for main course is the Ise Ebi No Nesuyaki (Grilled Australian Lobster with Homemade Egg Sauce). Chunks of lobster are stir-fried briefly before stuffed back into its shell. A creamy egg sauce and cheese cover the chunks of meat and is gratinated till golden brown.

There is also the Gindara Saikyo Miso to Shin Yasai (Miso marinated White Cod with Baby Garden Vegetables served with Lemon-Miso Beurre Blanc) while lamb lovers will enjoy the Hitsuji Rikkyu Sumibi Yaki (Grilled Lamb of Rack with Rikkyu Sauce and Crispy Crumb).

The above dishes complements Gen@10’s array of noodles and rice, or even its freshly made sushi.

This July, Muzeum Chinese Restaurant invites all fruit lovers for a tutti frutti adventure. Fresh luscious fruits will be incorporated into a specially created menu for your dining enjoyment. Available throughout July 2012 for lunch and dinner on a la carte basis from RM25.00++ per selection.


Fruits do not only complement desserts but they add a sweet touch to savoury dishes as well. Our talented and creative kitchen team have concocted ‘fruitful’ and nutritional savoury dishes to whet your appetite. Six newly created dishes will be introduced to entice your taste buds. Craving for something tangy-ish? Diners will truly enjoy some of these delicious offerings: Deep-fried Crispy Boneless Chicken with Sliced Mangoes in Orange Juice and Deep-fried Fish Fillet with Yoghurt Strawberry in Sweet and Sour Sauce. Meanwhile, meat lovers will definitely appreciate the tender and flavourful Stir-fried Sliced Venison topped with Bell Pepper and Mango Juice …. Simply fruitilicious!   

Other equally mouthwatering dishes include Deep-fried Prawns Stuffed with Fish Paste and Apple coated in Honey Sauce, Wok-fried Prawns with Papaya and Butter Sauce and Stir-fried Fresh Scallops with Celery and Mixed Seasonal Fruits. 

The above dishes go well with a bowl of steamed white rice or it can even be enjoyed with Muzeum’s array of fried noodles and fried rice.

For dessert, do try the Double-boiled Red Apples with Lemongrass and Honey Dates.  The nutritional value of apples, rich in vitamin C and high in antioxidants and fibre, are infused with honey dates, which are said to soothe and clear the throat while lemongrass gives a calming effect to the digestive system and works as a natural cold and cough reliever
